An Introduction :: Sunshine and Lemonade

Hi all!

I'm Jenny from Crafty Canary's Squawk, baby!  I'm a new member to this blog; and thought I'd put out a quick introduction of myself and a recent piece.  I've been a fan of Gwen Marston for a while and found Tonya's work by googling "liberated quilting" back in 2006 or earlier.  Even with being liberated, this was my first attempt at words in quilts.  Total love.

For 2011, I picked the word calm as the word I want to work on through my life and personality.  I picked golden yellow tones for this quilt to challenge myself with a monochromatic scheme.  Sunshine and Lemonade is a quilt that glows warm like taking a nap in the afternoon on a long summer day. 

The quilt is really not so slanty.  I was standing on the sofa trying to get a good picture.

I made blocks

I wanted to post some blocks tonight, but, alas, my new computer won't communicate with my old camera. I made a "B" for Brenda's birthday and two Hallowistmas houses. I wish u could see them.

Unruly donation

Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the news of disasters so it feels good to just sit and sew and feel like I am doing some good for someone.......I hope this little quilt makes a Japanese child smile.

Last and Least?

Hi Everyone! I've been a lurker up until now, but I know that I have to step up and contribute. Whenever I read Tonya's blog and the posts on this one, I try some work that is outside of my comfort zone. While my style is traditional applique and piecing, it is just plain fun to play with fabric and letters.

My block was probably one of the last that Tonya received. Even though I had weeks to make this small contribution, I waited until just before the deadline; that's just the way I work. It seemed as if there were some individual "bahs", so I sent a single "humbug".
