A group blog for working on UnRuly Quilting projects and most especially UnRuly Letters. What is UnRuly? Liberated, wonky, improvisational, mis-matched, points cut off FUN.

Amish String Quilt - An Update

I've been stitching pink strings . . .

And I've been stitching purple strings . . .

The goal?

Ten 20-inch-long strata for my liberated Amish strings quilt.
(click here to see my 'inspiration' post)

The pinks/purples form the first of two color groups ~
the alternate set (greens and golds) will be ready for photos soon.

Here you can see where I used some of those liberated HSTs.

I love the dynamic use of triangles in so many of the Amish quilts ~
hence a liberated arrangement of HSTs as the center rows in my strata.

Come on over to my main blog to see how these look trimmed into blocks!

Playing Along - an Update

Here is my legoes flimsy
named Dumpster Diving.

It measures 48" x 60"
and will be backed with a fabulously fun fabric.

The leftover strips and bits are being used
in my Alpha-Palooza project
that is part of Lynne's Letter Along.

(I'm mostly following Tonya's book
since I challenged myself to make lower case letters).

WOO HOO !!

Tonya really got us going with this one, didn't she ?!?!?!?!!!!!!

Study in Contrasts Series Reveal Day

Group Photo taken late last night (lamp light)
There were so many glorious leftover  segments and bits
after I finished trimming out Gotta Love It . . .
I just HAD to do something with them.

And so the challenge to create a series of Priority Quilts was born!

Unruly back of Synergy
My personal challenge was to use only black & whites with blues . . .
and that included the backs of the quilts and the bindings.

Detail - Turquoise Sunset
Another element of the challenge was that I would quilt these myself
(no small deal since I had hardly ever  FM Quilted anything).

Detail - Yin Yang
Now, these ten quilts are first going to work with me
and will then go off to AAQI in today's mail . . .

Come visit my blog for more photos
and links to the complete web album,
plus links to the PQs' webpages at AAQI.

LOVE being an UnRuly Quilter!

Joining in the Fun

Quiltdivajulie here ~

I'm not working on Bah Humbug (yet) . . .

I'm playing with a design wall full of Lynne's orphan letters!

LOTS of ideas for what will become a lap quilt for her.

There are also UnRuly Letters (words)
in the works for Bits and Pieces
(scrap therapy at its best + random orphans of my own).

Today is a snow day where I live
(WOO HOO!!)
so I'm off to do some stitching !
