It only took me five years to get this top done. Whew! I have a quilter lined up, so hopefully this will soon be completely finished. Thank you to all who sent me words! I love them all. --carol e.

Scrap Happy

What has happened to UnRuly Quilting????  I thought I was the only one neglecting my blog.

Here's a newly finished top.  Just scrappy squares might be boring, so in employed a setting scheme I've used before and added a few little bird blocks.

My Birthday Verbs

I Forgot - this is a Group!

I was thinking that this blog owner hadn't posted much lately, and then remembered this is a GROUP blog, and I am one of its authors! Duh! Some of you may have seen this at my blog, but I thought I'd post it here, too. It's a house block I made with a zipper in it. And inside the house is a giraffe!

I've been having fun with zippers lately. This is one of many zipper projects that I've been playing with for the last month or so. Carol E.

Unruly Birds

Hello out there!

It's been a long time since anyone has posted here.
Aren't you feeling very unruly?

Here's a little quilt (27" x 40") that I finished this week.  I found the "HOW TO" about the birds in a fun book called Hot Flashes of Inspiration by Kandi Kelderman and Kim Schissel.

Here's a close-up of one of the blocks.  I quilted the whole thing side to side with straight lines about 1/2 inch apart.  It took a while, but gave the quilt a neat texture and feel.

Create-ing

Here is the word I made for Carol (Giraffe Dreams) for her birthday quilt.  I'm a little late, but she assures me I'm not too late!  Whew!  

I'm not entirely pleased with the C or the R, both of which could be a little larger.  I started with those two letters instead of the E or A, which was probably where my problem happened, but all in all, I'm happy with this.  As long as Carol is happy, I'm happy!

An Unruly Challenge

Gee, am I ever thankful for Tonya's influence!  A year ago our local art quilt group began a 2-gallon-bag challenge.  I got the most awful assortment of fabric and trims!  BUT .... I gave myself a big slap in the face and said "that's what challenges are all about"!

The largest single piece of fabric in the bag was a pre-printed Jo-Ann's skirt panel with a tie-dyed color scheme.  Being a quilt shop owner and used to handling VERY NICE fabrics, I hated that panel.  There were also assorted scraps, trims, a needle felted flower (that didn't make it into the final project) and some sewn and stuffed shapes.  I felt like I was recycling, so that is the direction I took.

The quilts will be given to the person who originally supplied the bag.  A provision of the challenge was that we could also make a quilt for ourselves to keep from the same fabrics.  Here is my little piece (thank you, Jan Mullen).

Recycle Quilt:  30" x 22"
Bird Quilt:  11" x 14"

So Sew!

So I finally sewed the word sew in bright colours for Carol's birthday quilt. The first hard part of this exercise was remembering I had promised to do this (sorry, Carol!). The second challenge will be getting this into the mail this week. I hope it isn't too late!

Virtues Quilt

out of the 52 I had planned to make--anyway...  

This quilt happened today with leftover parts from old projects.
